A worn copper alloy bow and fantail brooch, complete but for the pin and possibly a loop springing from the wings. The arched bow splays out into a sub-triangular foot on which there is a raised pattern This consists of a diamond above an arc which curls in towards the centre at each end. The remains of the catch plate are on the reverse of this. Similar 1st-2nd century examples can be seen in Hattatt (2000 p 315)

A fragment of a copper alloy bow brooch, probably a Colchester two piece dating to the first century AD. The fragment comprises the head of the brooch. The head possesses two rectangular wings which are convex in section. They conceal the spring mechanism and an overhead chord is held in place by a perforated head lug. The fragment measures 9mm in length and 18mm in width.

Copper alloy lozenge shaped plate brooch from the Roman period. The main body of the brooch is complete but the pin is missing. The brooch is lozenge shaped with a lug at each corner. The front face has a hollow central lozenge shaped boss which would have been filled with enamel as decoration. The boss is surrounded by a raised edge. Copper alloy cast reversed fantail type of Roman bow brooch. The bow of the brooch is complete and the catchplate is still present. The pin was on a spring mechanism held by a rearward hook over the chord. The hook is still present but the pin and the spring are missing. The back of the bow is flat and the front decoration is moulded. The top half of the bow is made up of two domes. The bow then widens to the lower bow which is almost lozenge shaped. Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch fragment, lower bow and part of the flat panel from a early Anglo-Saxon brooch. There is a longitudinal decorative band running down the centre of the bow and below the bow transverse grooves delimit the start of the flat panel. Surviving length is 17.94mm and width is 17.38mm. All edges worn and damaged due to old breaks. Both faces are black probably due to exposure to fire, perhaps indicating that this brooch was originally from a cremation cemetary.

Copper alloy cast trumpet brooch from the Roman period. The main body of the brooch is complete with some of the catchplate remaining. The pin was sprung and attahced to the head by an axial bar to a single lug. The lug is present but has broken and the pin and its spring are missing. The head of the brooch is a circular shape. The brooch has a mid-bow double flange. The bow narrows to a small rounded foot which is separated from the bow by 2 lines around its circumference.

A copper-alloy disc brooch of 'hub-cap' type, most likely to be AD 900-1100, late Anglo-Saxon in date. Very similar to examples from Wyverstone, see SF-E66913 and Mellis, see SF-7F2271. It is circular in shape and measures 20.96mm in diameter. The front face has a central circular setting containing a worn dark green glass gem. Surrounding this central setting there are seven circular indentations. The back face is flat and has a pin loop, now incomplete opposite a catchplate. No trace of the pin survives. It is fairly worn and has some patches of powdery green corrosion.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy and tinned Hod Hill type brooch of Roman, first century date (AD 43 - AD 100). Length 27.0mm, width 9.2mm and 1.0mm thick. Weight 1.82g. The fragment comprises the lower part of the bow and the foot in the form of a knop. At the top, where there is an old transverse break, the width of the bow is 9.2 mm. A 2nd century cast copper alloy disc brooch. The brooch is flat and circular. The surface has largely been lost due to wear and corrosion. The front of the brooch has been decorated with a ring and dot in the centre with lines radiating out from the centre. These fields then appear to have been inlaid with enamel, must of the enamel has now been lost. A lead alloy probable brooch fragment which is probably from the mid Early Medieval period. The fragment is a sub rectangular flat plate with one end rounded, and the other end broken with the majority of the brooch missing. The fragment is divided into two panels by a transverse raised bar. There seems to be a plain border round each panel, and interlace patterns within. A cast copper alloy object, surviving in two pieces. The object could be a Roman bracelet, but it is more likely to be a medieval brooch. The object is formed from a twisted strip of copper alloy wire. There is a step in the strip - which could indicate that that is a pin construction and therefore the object is a brooch. The metal is a dark brownish-grey colour.
