Fragment from a copper alloy Trumpet brooch, dating to the early Roman period. Only the head and spring of the brooch survive. The head is oval in plan, convex and has a rearward hook and loop on the reverse. The spring is copper alloy and has six turns to it. The chord is external. The bow is broken just after it leaves the head.

Incomplete cast copper alloy Trumpet brooch. The brooch has a convex oval head with a copper alloy pin bar on the reverse. The spring is incomplete. The suspension loop at the top is missing. The bow is comma shaped in profile and has a domed circular boss in the centre. This boss would have had four lugs spaced evenly around the perimeter, however only one now remains. The centre of the boss is decorated with a ring of enamel which looks now to be a degraded yellow-green colour. The bow is comma shaped in profile and has a fully rounded acanthus reel in the centre with three reels above and below. The lower bow is triangular in cross-section and tapers to a broken foot. The central rib and perimeter of the lower bow are marked by slight lines. There are two grooves decorating part of the now badly damaged catchplate.

An early Anglo-Saxon copper alloy small-long brooch, dating to the 6th Century. The brooch has a trapezoidal head, which is very damaged and corroded around the edges. The corroded remains of the lug can be seen. The brooch has a high arch, with some incised decoration. The lower part of the bow is lozenge shaped and flat. The foot and catchplate have broken off. Only the stump of the catchplate remains. Similar to an example in Hattatt, p376, Fig: 235.

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman T-shape brooch dating from the 1st - 2nd Century AD. Behind the head the tubular spring / pin mechanism survives but it is broken, complete with an iron axis bar. The pin is missing. The head is narrow and the wings are undecorated. There is a raised spine running down the front of the bow. The lower bow tapers to the foot, both the foot proper and catchplate survive, but are damaged. Similar to Hattatt, p302-3. Fig: 161-2.

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Headstud brooch dating from the 2nd Century AD. Behind the head the tubular spring / pin mechanism survives in place, complete with an iron axis bar. The pin is missing. The head is angular and the wings have been decorated with two vertical incised lines, projecting out of the top of the head is a broken loop. The upper bow is sub-rectangular in section. There is a raised rounded stud on the arch of the bow. The lower bow tapers to the foot and foot proper and catchplate have broken off. Similar to Hattatt, p332-3. Fig: 191-2.
