Single petal central boss. Crude, casting spurs either side central boss. Denuded dark brown, uneven surface. Some brassy colour showing through. Appears abraded. Hinged long pin attached where strap loop would have been, brassy colour, much more modern than piece. Re-used this century.

It is a silver penny of King Edward I, from the Canterbury mint, class 9b1 (c.1299 to end 1300/early 1301). The coin would be of the official English sterling standard, i.e. about 92.5% fine silver. The coin has been altered by the addition of a suspension loop that appears to be of silver also. Its current weight, with the loop, is 1.82g. The conversion of English coins of the later 13th-century into jewellery is well-attested by surviving examples.
