A complete Mesolithic to Early Neolithic flint adze or axehead (c. 10000 BC-c. 3500 BC).
This implement is roughly pointed oval in plan and sub-lozenge shaped in cross-section. In side view it is roughly pointed oval. It has been knapped overall except where there is a small area of buff cortex at the butt end. In plan, the butt end is slightly narrower than the cutting edge. The cutting edge is damaged as there are a number of small chips.
It varies from black to light grey and has off-white and creamy mottling.
Height: 75.9mm; width: 32.6mm; thickness: 23.7mm. Weight: 64.74g.

An almost complete Mesolithic to Early Neolithic flint adze or axehead (c. 10000 BC-c. 3500 BC).
This implement is sub-rectangular in plan and sub-triangular in cross-section. One face has been entirely knapped and the other face has about 70% cortex. The flaking at the cutting edge end is long and short, scaled and semi-abrupt.
The cortex is grey and buff and the flaked areas have a grey patina with creamy mottling and some iron staining. A modern chip near the butt end on the cortex reveals that the flint is dark grey.
Length: 157.0mm; width: 60.9mm; thickness: 37.5mm. Weight: c. 335.0g.

An incomplete Mesolithic to Neolithic flint adze (c. 9000 BC-c. 3500 BC),
The butt is missing due to an old transverse break.
This implement is sub-rectangular in plan and sub-triangular in cross-section. It has been bi-facially worked on both faces and has highly invasive removals. In side view it is oblique at the cutting edge. The dorsal surface has a longitudinal median ridge that extends from the butt end to about half way along its length. The cutting edge is curved and on the dorsal face there is minimal retouch which is short, sub-parallel and low angled. A small area of buff cortex is present on the ventral face.
Length: 93.7mm; width: 45.6mm; thickness: 31.5mm. Weight: 137.36g.

A complete Mesolithic to Early Neolithic chert adze or axehead (c. 10000 BC-c. 3500 BC).
This implement is an elongated oval shape in plan. In side view it is pointed at the butt end and oblique at the cutting edge. The dorsal face is characteristically humped. Flake removal scars cover all surfaces and there is no cortex. Particularly large flakes have been removed on the ventral face at its mid point, possibly to facilitate hafting. The ridge on one side is mildly 'S'-shaped and the other ridge is straighter. The cutting edge appears to have old damage at its apex.
The implement is reddish brown with pale buff patches.
Length: 164.0mm; width: 54.4mm; thickness: 32.0mm. Weight: 309.0g.

An almost complete Neolithic stone adze (4000 BC-2351 BC).
This adze is sub-triangular in plan and an elongated 'D'-shape in side view. The front (dorsal) face is convex and the rear (ventral) face is flat. From the butt, the sides flare evenly to the curved cutting edge. The lower part of the ventral faces curves inwards towards the cutting edge. The dorsal face is regularly pitted and the ventral face is very smooth.
The surface is green with a reddish hue but with a darker area close to the butt on the ventral face. Slight damage on the dorsal face has revealed that the colour of the stone is slightly lighter underneath. On the dorsal face, close to the cutting edge, there is a thin arc-shaped shallow gouge. The damage have been caused by recent ploughing activity.
Length: 196.0mm; width: 80.0mm; thickness: 38.2mm. Weight: to be weighed.

A Neolithic flint adze (4000 BC-2351 BC).
This adze is an elongated sub-oval shape in plan and is wider at the cutting edge than at the butt end. It is crested in cross-section but the ventral face is convex. Both faces are knapped overall except for a brown area on the ventral face which is cortex. A break has occurred on the ventral face close to the cutting edge and the butt end has been remodelled.
The patina on both faces varies from off-white to orange. The patina on the break and the remodelled area is greyish.
Length: 134.6mm; width: 47.4mm; thickness: 32.0mm. Weight: 213.02g.

A Mesolithic or Neolithic flint adze or pick (c. 10000 -c. 3500 BC) .
This object has been made on an elongated flint nodule. It is sub-oval in cross-section except at the butt end where it is sub triangular in cross-section. The dorsal face has about 80% off-white cortex and the ventral face has been crudely flaked all over. A large indentation on the ventral face appears to have been made deliberately. The implement seems not to have a cutting edge but may have been damaged while in use. However, the patina is the same as elsewhere. The butt end is worked overall and is relatively flat. The flake scars have a light and dark grey patina with creamy mottling in places. There are red-brown ferrous stains on some flake scar ridges.
Length: 128.2mm; width: 51.4mm; thickness: 45.7mm. Weight: c. 325.0g.

Copper alloy fragment of possible adze tool, possibly late medieval.
The reverse face is flat and undecorated; the obverse face has a low ridge running down the centre of the fragment toward a blunt, curved end. Such a ridge would give extra strength to a flat tool that is otherwise made of a weak metal alloy.
