The token shows Volcanus on one side and Ciparissus on the other. It is quite worn and has a dull, dark brown patina over its surface. Obv. Medieval jeton; struck copper alloy French jeton of 15th century date. The jeton has a cross initial mark and versions of the same legend on either side. The inscription is ‘Ave Maria Gracia Plena’, or ‘Hail Mary full of grace’. The design on the obverse is known as the "Chatel Tournois", the Castle of Tours design of the town of Tours, suggesting that this may be of the Tournai mint. Obv.
