Medieval cast lead alloy pointed oval seal matrix, 13th century. Central device a very simple lis. The well-executed inscription reads * S' AGNETIS IVAL. The second and third letters of AGNETIS are difficult to read and the first letter of the surname appears damaged. It seems possible that this seal matrix should be read as * S' AGNETIS WAL (Seal of Agnes Wall). Moulded decoration on the reverse of a raised spine with curvilinear decoration to either side, and a poorly moulded unfinished loop at one end (corresponding with the start of the inscription). Thick cream patina. Lengt…

Roman Coin: Complete but very worn struck or hammered copper alloy nummus of uncertain ruler with Victory advancing left with wreath aloft reverse type. Due to the lack of inscription detail it is not possible to be confident about asigning this coin to a specific ruler or period of rule. Due to the small flan size, however, it is most likely that this coin is later and probably dates to the House of Theodosius c.388-402 or possibly to the House of Valentinian c.364-378.
