TREASURE CASE 2012 T583: Incomplete Late Medieval silver-gilt badge in the form of a male boar. The boar is depicted in profile in a walking pose and facing left. Only the hind-quarters of the boar survive with the two hind-legs, tail and lower part of the back surviving. The bottom of the foremost back leg is broken and missing. Traces of gilding are present on the curl of the tail. The bristles, which run along the crest of the boar's back, are depicted via incised lines. Incomplete copper-alloy Roman Dolphin brooch of spring pin fitting type. The wings, bow and catchplate survive. The head of the brooch has the classic swollen hump appearance of a Dolphin Brooch but the lugs for attaching the axis bar and spring are missing. The pin, spring and axis bar are all also missing. Early medieval hooked tag fragment. Much of the plate is missing, but it would probably have been disc shaped. What remains of the plate is decorated with a V-shape within a triangle, surrounded by a beaded border, then a plain line border. The hook is broken off at the bend. Late early medieval cast copper alloy Urnes style mount fragment, mid 11th century, openwork with at least one sinuous beast. This is a lobe from a larger object. One of the holes is circular and probably a rivet hole, while the other four are unevenly shaped and sized. Length 25.72mm, width 18.98mm, thickness 2.87mm, weight 4.58g.
