A Roman copper-alloy tripod mount depicting the bust of a young male figure, representing Bacchus/Cupid emerging from a calyx. The bust is naked and no musculature is defined on the chest. The facial features are worn and the wavy, mid-length hair is swept into a crest on the top of the head. The bust is placed above an incomplete, hollow and rectangular base which has three transverse mouldings. Cast copper alloy mount dating to the Roman period. The object is a vulvate mount, similar to others recorded on the database, for example NMS-EA2E31. There is a concavity behind the central boss. The boss is a raised oval with an incised longitudinal line. The integrally cast fungiform style rivets are located at the either longitudinal end of the concavity on the reverse. The integral backing plate is standard shield-shaped. Extending out from the reverse are two attachment rivets.

Cast copper alloy drum-shaped object. The object is similar in design to an item found at Winterton Roman Villa, identified as a 'reel', however, this object has a much larger central perforation than the Winterton example. There is no decoration. The object has a distinctive cylindrical drum shape with a narrow centre and flared terminals. The perforation runs through the centre of the object from top to bottom; it is irregularly formed at either mouth. The hole is filled with some kind of concretion or mineralisation. Another suggested use is as a spool, for example for thread.

An incomplete cast copper alloy dragonesque brooch of Roman date. The pin and catchplate no longer survive. The object has the distinctive animal-head terminals with a curled nose and large ears. The nose and eyes are shown with an incised circle-dot motif. On the outside of each curve is a sweeping, integral addition which is wide at the end towards the underside of the head and narrows until it's flush with the body of the brooch. Three pot sherds. Fragment of the rim of a large vessel. The style of the rim suggests that the sherd is most likely to be from a Roman Bowl (or possibly a Mortaria). The base of a copper alloy Roman Seal Box. This piece would have originally had a decorative lid, and would have been used to protect a wax seal on a document. The seal box is trapezoidal, with beaded nodules on its corners. Four holes are punched through the base in an approximate diamond formation. The upper corner has the hinge for the lid, whilst the side corners have the holes for the seal cord.

Probably late Roman redware, but some could possibly by 12th Century or later. 1 x section of rim of a large vessel, of pale pink fabric with grey core, surface has frequent gritty inclusions. 1 x small section of rim of a smaller vessel, of red/orange slightly soft fabric. 3 x sherds with fine gritty inclusions, light orange to place pink in colour. Largest sherd is 37.8 x 26.4 x 13.5mm, smallest is 28.7 x 27.6 x 6.3mm.

Probably the head, and part of the shaft, of a Roman bronze/copper alloy pin. Both head and shaft are slightly oval in plan (the head is 8.5mm x 9.1mm, the shaft is 3.6mm x 4.1mm). There may be a trace of decoration, as there appears to be a line incised horizontally towards the top of the head.

Roman copper alloy Umbonate plate brooch, enameled, with eight projecting lugs (of which four survive). Probably 2nd Century AD onwards. The brooch is damaged and the pin is missing, but the single lug hinge and the catchplate are present on reverse. The face of the brooch is divided by two concentric raised bands into two bands of enamel, and a dished centre which may have held a glass bead or stone (plate now appears flat in profile). The inner of the two enamel bands has alternating radiating stripes of blue and red enamel, whilst the outer has lost its enamel. The brooch is 33.1m…

Cast copper alloy trumpet brooch, dating to the first half of the second century. The object has the characteristic trumpet head, with a bow that sits low and rather flatter than larger varieties. The bow is broken just below a rib that would have flanked the mid-bow knob. The reverse of the head shows a perforated lug for accommodating a hinge pin. The pin is missing.
