The bow from a one-piece brooch of Late Iron Age date. The bow is of flat strip form and tapers inwards towards the missing catchplate. On either side of the bow is a very wide groove with a zigzag between. At the upper end of the bow is a series of transverse grooves. Both spring and pin are missing. The brooch is in good condition.

'A fragment from a medieval brooch. The flat surface (reverse) is inscribed with: + A + This most probably comprises part of a full inscription which would have read A G L A and would have been arranged at equal distances around the frame of the brooch. The full inscription signifies Atha Gebri Lielan Adonai ('thou art mighty forever, O Lord) and was a popular charm against fever in the medieval period. An incomplete Iron Age cast copper alloy La Tene brooch, probably type 1B dating to the period 400 to 275 BC. The head of the brooch originally consisted of four coils to the spring with two loops located on either side of the bow. Only two survive. The bow is curved in section and leaf-shaped in plan. A Roman bow brooch of Trumpet type. Only the central part of the bow survives and this has a white metal surface coating. Running along both sides of the upper part of the bow is a band of widely-spaced raised circles separated by a central groove. The lower part of the bow is similarly decorated but here the circles are separated by a raised groove. Between these strips of circles are three widely-spaced flattened circular expansions which form two constrictions of the bow. Each expansion has a pair of encircling grooves with between a central ridge.

An almost complete crossbow brooch dating to the late 3rd century. The brooch, which has a white metal coating and a hinged pin, has a wide curving bow which in section is an elongated triangle. Adjacent to the catchplate is a raised collar with a hollow on each side of the bow adjacent. The back of the catchplate has double grooves at the foot and a single groove at the junction of the bow as well as two pairs of triangular facets. Part of one side wing is missing. There may have been a separate fitting attached to the projection on the apex. If so this is now missing.

An early medieval disc or saucer brooch with a central circular hole. Around the hole, and within a double-line square frame, is a cast design composed of animals in Salin's Style I. A fragment of a Roman bow brooch, probably of Colchester two-piece type. The fragment comprises most of the lower part and includes the catchplate which has two apertures. There are grooves running down the remaining part of the spine as well as the remains of notched decoration along the sdies of the bow.
