A fragment of a Roman fibula brooch, consisting of the lower section of the bow and the catch plate. The bow has horizontal linear mouldings while the catch plate is large and solid. This is probably from a large Dolphin or Colchester derivitive brooch, dating from c. AD 43-200. There may be some silvering / white metal coating evident.

A large and incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester one-piece type, dating to the period c. AD 25-60. The open work catch is broken and two coils of the spring and the pin are missing. Decoration is found down the spine of the bow possibly in a zig-zag pattern. See Hattatt (2007:296) no. 253 for a brooch with similar decoration.

A complete cast copper alloy Roman brooch of the Hod Hill type, dating to the first century AD. The brooch has multiple ribbed moulding down the bow with a wide horizontal panel forming 'side lugs' across the middle. This panel appears undecorated. The rolled head holds an axis bar for the hinged pin, which may be a replacement as it is of a different alloy to the brooch. The foot of the brooch and the catch plate is intact. Traces of silvering survive. AD 43-75.

An incomplete and corroded cast copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Hod Hill type, dating to the 1st century AD. The brooch has side lugs integral to the bow, all of which are decorated with moulded vertical linear ridges and troughs. A horizontal collar separates the upper panel from the undecorated and tapering lower section of the brooch. The foot is missing, as it the hinged pin and there is damage to the catch-plate. See Hattatt (2007:322 no. 317) for parallels. AD 43-65.

An incomplete copper alloy early Roman strip bow brooch of Durotrigan Type (Mackreth 2011 DURO Plates 100-101) dating to AD 45-120 AD. The bow is flat in profile, tapering towards the missing foot. Down the centre of the bow is a raised moulded 'rope-work' style design. The head of the brooch has a thin cylindrical tube (rolled / cast forward) for the axis bar for the hinged pin, which is missing. Similar brooches can be seen in Richard Hattatt, 2000, A Visual Catalogue of Richard Hattatt's Ancient Brooches, pg.319, fig.178.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman Crossbow brooch, dating to the third century AD. The head features a projecting rounded knop with a convex top and a short collared neck. The surviving wing is D-shaped in cross-section and has a circular knop as a terminal. The wings house the axis bar for the hinged pin mechanism but the pin is missing. The bow is steeply arched and has a faceted trapeziodal cross-section. At the end of the bow is a thin, fan shaped projection. The lower half of the brooch is missing. See Hattatt 2007 p.368 fig.227 no.1674.

The brooch retains most of its flat bow but there is damage to one side, possibly caused by recent agricultural activity. The bow tapers from shoulders at the head down towards the missing foot.
