PART MAX P M TR P X COS III P P reverse type depicting a trophy between two captive people. The reverse prototype of Septimius is of the Mint of Rome, struck in AD 202, cf. BMC no. 385; RIC IV.1, p. 115, no. 185.

Silver coin. Denarius of Caracalla (198-217), mint of Rome, probably issue of 205 from a reverse ascribed to Septimius Severus (RIC. Vol. 4 part 1, page 117, no. 197); though obverse bears Caracalla's bust [RIC bust (b)] of 199-200 (RIC. Vol. 4 part 1 page 217). This suggests a provisional date-range for issue of 199-205, probably 205. This ?mule might therefore be deemed a 'find of note', especially given its very fine condition.
