A copper alloy and silvered Roman coin; a contemporary copy of a denarius probably of Hadrian (117 - 138), with Spes (probably) on the reverse (probably AD 125). The coin has a diameter of 18.7mm and is 2.4mm thick. The silvering is wearing off displaying the brown copper alloy underneath. The legends are illegible. For a likely example of the coin being copied see Sear (2002) Roman Coins and their Values Volume II, number 3479.
