Copper alloy and gilt horse-harness mount. The mount is axe-shaped in plan. The object is decorated on the face in style II. Decoration comprises an animal looped around itself; the animal's head and a three-toed foot are visible. The animal is composed of three strands. There is a central element comprised of two-strand interlocked ovals. There are two rivets visible from the reverse. Although the reverse is not decorated with raised animal motifs, both faces are covered with gold gilding.

A cast copper alloy single looped oval buckle, with an integral plate. There is a rivet hole in the plate, which still contains the pin. The rest of the plate has broken off. There are decorative rounded knops either side of the strap bar. The object has been gilded. The metal is a mid greyish-green. These buckles date from circa AD 1250 - 1400. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, p33-4.

A cast copper alloy double looped buckle frame. The buckle frame and strap bar survive intact, but the pin is missing. Iron corrosion can be seen on the strap bar. Neither loop of the frame has a pin recess. The reverse is undecorated and flat. The metal is a mid greyish-green colour. These buckles date from circa 1350 - 1650. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead (2003), p53 and Egan (2005), p35, Fig.17.

A silver-gilt dress fitting or mount. The mount is formed from a circular plate, with a concave reverse. Only two-thirds of the object survives, as much has broken off. The broken edge has also been folded around on itself. In the centre of the object there is a bust of a Tudor man in high relief. The figure wears a cap. The bust is inside a ropework circle border. An incomplete cast copper alloy ring, perhaps a finger-ring. The ring has a lozenge-shaped section and chamfered edges. It is worn, with badly damaged edges, and has a mid brownish-green patina. Approximately one quarter of the ring has broken off. Penannular finger-rings, sometimes with lozengiform cross-sections, are known from the late early-medieval period, with parallels from the Viking town of Thetford (Rogerson and Dallas 1984, nos 17-21).

A cast lead alloy forgery of an Austrian Maria Theresa thaler. Around the edge of the coin it is possible to see a seam where the 2 halves of the mould used to cast it joined, and the remains of the casting sprue are also visible on the edge above the bust/eagle's crown. Maria Theresa was Empress from 1740 to her death in 1780, jointly with her husband Franz I from 1745 to 1765, and then with her son Joseph II from 1765 to 1780. The original coin of which this forgery is a copy was probably minted in Burgau, an Austrian possession near Ulm in Bavaria. [germany]

An incomplete cast copper alloy stirrup of medieval date. The surviving portion of the stirrup is the foot rest which is ovate in plan with a slightly concaved section. From one edge of the stirrup is a downward pointing row of crenulated transverse ridges. To either end of the foot plate are narrowed, upturned arms which terminate in worn breaks though would have originally formed the frame of the stirrup. The frame is D-shaped, with a rectangular section, with an expanded outer edge, decorated with two pairs of transverse mouldings flanking the central pin rest. The bar is narrow and offset. TREASURE CASE : 2012 T784. A complete cast and hammered silver sheet toilet implement of medieval date. The implement is a combined ear scoop and toothpick and nail cleaner. The toothpick and nail cleaner terminal is triangular in shape and tapers in thickness as well as width to a pointed tip. TREASURE CASE : 2012 T785. A complete cast silver lace tag of post-medieval date. The lace tag is formed from a single piece of silver which is a single-pointed ovate in shape with a large perforation, or eye, through the wider end. Each of the four edges are chamfered and the lace tag tapers to a rounded point. The object is undecorated. A small incomplete lead plaque, now broken. It has a straight edge at the top, but the other edges are curved so that it is U shaped. The front is decorated with incised decoration forming runes. There is a line across the front, about two-thirds of the way down, and then above that four vertically incised lines forming rectangular panels. A heavily debased silver denarius of Septimius Severus (AD 193-211). The coin clearly has a very low silver content, and may be a core for a plated copy. The coin type was struck in AD 197, and is RIC number 97, the reverse depicting Hercules standing right, resting on club and holding bow and lion skin on left arm. When legible the reverse inscription would read HERCVLI DEFENS and the obverse inscription would read L SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP VIIII. The coin measures 15.39 mm in diameter and weighs 1.9 grams.

Unidentified, enamelled, cast copper-alloy and iron object. Mass: 4.1g; diameter: 19.3mm; thickness: 9.3mm. Sub-circular in plan with corroded iron projections at the centre of the front and reverse. The outer ring on the front is decorated with red enamel. On the reverse there are two projecting lugs set diametrically opposed to each other on the edge. Therse are not pierced. The object resembles a Roman brooch but the precise function and datng of the object is unclear.
