Below the triangle is a diamond; on the diamond, triangle and circular tab is a circle-dot motif, incised on the surface of the panel. Coming down from the diamond are three struts, interrupted by a bar. On the central strut, where it intersects with the bar, is cross-hatching. The plate is rectangular in plan; the corners are slightly bent from damage. At the buckle end are the loops, formed by the folded sheet, with a notch cut out between them. The five rivets are of a truncated, inverted conical shape, with the narrow end just visible flush with the reverse plate. On the face, the rivets protrude 2.8mm; these have shallow convex tops. The rivets are arranged with two at each …

Cast copper alloy buckle frame, most likely a shoe buckle. Dating from circa 1660-1720. This is a two part buckle with traces of the iron spindle evident on the interior of the frame. It is missing the spindle and chape/pin. The fact that the holes for the spindle are not drilled all the way through the frame suggests that the buckle is an early form of its type.

The lion's mane has been depicted with incised lines. The reverse of the plate is flat. The metal is a mid greyish-gre…
