The brooch has wings which are formed by a horizontal sub-rectangular bar with rounded ends. On the reverse of the wings, integral to the upper edge is a rectangular protrusion which curls backwards over the bowhead and tapers to a sharp point. An incomplete copper-alloy Colchester derivative (Polden Hill) hinged brooch of Roman date, circa AD 80 - 120. The brooch is T-shaped in plan.
The bow head is hump-like, and angular (comma shaped) in profile, with cylindrical wings projecting from either side at the top. The wings have been decorated with two vertical grooves. On the reverse the axis bar is covered and in the centre is a vertical slot where the remains of the pin is attached. An incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy Colchester type bow brooch dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman period, c. 25-60 AD.
The object consists of the bow and head of the brooch. The head has very short wings, the head itself terminating in a sharp point. Atop the head is the remnants of a rearward facing hook, also worn to a sharp tip. A worn and incomplete copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch of Bayley and Butcher 2004, Group A, dating from about AD 75 - 150. Only the upper part of the bow remains. Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill CD PH 3 type AD 75-200. This has rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings that are truncated but would have held the pin axis bar. At the rear of the head is a loop that would have held the external cord for the spring. The front of the bow is decorated with three groves that run down its length. The lower half of the bow is truncated resulting in the loss of the catchplate.

Late Roman/ Early-Medieval (AD 400-600) penannular brooch of Fowler Type D and Booth Type D. The frame is sub-circular, and oval in cross-section, made from a single piece of copper alloy. The terminals has been bent back laying back over the frame to form a penannular brooch. The pin is missing. There is no decoration. The surface has alight blue-green coloured patina.
The frame measures 23.97mm long, 19.72mm wide, 4.16mm thick at the terminal and weighs 1.29g.
