A fragment of a copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. Only the middle of the bow survives. It has a very worn acanthus moulding, of three petals above and three below a central disc. The moulding continues round the back of the bow. There is a worn collar above and below. The lower bow is flat in cross-section and has a central ridge on the reverse whhich is the top of the catchplate. The breaks are worn and patinated. The fragment has a green and brown patina. It is 29.56mm long, 10.26mm wide and 7.88mm thick. It weighs 5.05g.

There is a double collar above and below the acanthus moulding of three petals above and three below the central disc. The moulding does not continue on ot the back of the bow. The lower bow is triangular in cross-section and the catchplate curls to the left when viewed head uppermost from the reverse. The foot is discoidal with a triple moulding. A copper alloy annular brooch of Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1400. It has a hexagonal frame, of D shaped cross section, with a recess for the copper alloy pin which is rectangular in cross-section. The brooch is decorated with four blue enamel or glass settings at four of the corners. There is a plain metal swelling at the remaining two corners, and a transverse ridge in the centre of each side. It has plain wings with a tubular housing behind for the axis bar. The hinged pin is missing. There is a very worn integral headstud on the top of the bow. The lower bow is broken, so only two recessed cells for enamel survive. They appear to contain red and blue enamel.  It is 16.6mm long, 11.9mm wide and 6.6mm thick. It weighs 3g. This brooch appears to fit into Mackreth's (2011) headstud group 4.
