An almost complete Roman cast copper alloy brooch of headstud type dating to c.AD 75-200. The brooch consists of a hinged pin attached to short wings on either side, and a curved bow with a column like foot and catch plate. The outer faces of the wings are decorated with three transverse grooves. To the reverse is a narrow cylinder with a slot in the centre which holds a hinged pin and axis bar. The pin remains articulated. A small Roman copper alloy penannular brooch, complete apart from the pin.  The terminals of the c-shaped brooch are in the form of collared knobs, decorated with incised striations.  These are similar to brooches of Fowler Type A4, possibly dating from the 1st to 3rd centuary AD.The brooch is in fair condition, is 32mm long, 28mm wide, 4mm thick and weighs 3.58g.

The plate is flat, it has a circumferential ridge and an inner ridge on the main body which divides the plate into two concentric ovals.
