An incomplete, copper alloy Roman Colchester Derivative brooch dating AD 50-175. The spring, pin, and wings are missing. The brooch is 9.48mm wide, with arched moulding at the junction where the wings would have met the head. There is a single moulded rib that runs along the brooch from the front of the head to around a quarter of the way down the bow, though the exact point at which it terminates is uncertain due to wear and abrasion. The head has a similar shape to the heads for SF-38EAD7, BH-32D060 and ESS-EB953C. There is, however, little evidence of there having been a …

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy bow brooch of Colchester derivative type, dating to circa AD 43-120. The brooch is incomplete and missing the wings. It is likely the brooch would have had a spring that would have been placed in the concave slot at the reverse of the head. At the reverse of the head is a small protrusion, probably the small remains of a now missing rearward facing hook. The bow is hump like in profile similar to the Polden Hill varieties. The bow is broader where it extends from the head and narrows to a now damaged terminal.  The lower bow, f…
