Each lobe is decorated with a convex circular boss. At the top of the brooch is a drop shaped protrusion which to the rear houses the lug to support the now missing pin. A copper alloy fragment, probably from a strip brooch of early Roman date (c. AD 25 - 100). The surviving fragment is of tapering ovate shape, with a flat section. Both ends terminate in breaks so the overall original form is hard to discern; the object appears to curve slightly to one side so it is possible the brooch may have had a sinuous, S-shape. An incomplete, copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch (c. AD 75 - 175). The spring, pin, catch plate, foot, and part of the bow are missing. The head is oval shaped in plan 19.13 mm long, 13.03 mm wide with a concave reverse and an integral lug that would have held the spring. The bow emerges from the top of the head and initially curves upwards and away from the head.
