Lead Alloy brooch. Cast disc or plate Brooch. The display face bears a design of fine lines and pellets in relief, comprising a central pellet, a pellet with a nimbate border above it and one triangular group of radial lines opposite, flanked by two groups of circumferential lines edged by an upper laddered border. Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) lead alloy disc brooch, 29mm long, 27mm wide and 2mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 8.5grams. The object represents about a quarter of a circular brooch, including its catchplate which is 3mm thick. Its surface is decorated with a series of five concentric circles which surround a raised cross and pellets. The reverse has the now squashed remnants of two fixing loops/lugs aligned and right angles to the edge. The object is very similar to examples from Coppergate in York, particularly 10602, fig 1268, page 2573, YAT17/14.

A bow brooch, possibly made of pewter or lead and dates to the first century. The bow is sub-circular in cross-section and is 30.2mm long. It tapers, becoming narrower towards the end furthest from the cross-piece. There is an irregular break at the narrower end. There is no catchplate. The wings are also circular in cross-section and flare out, away from the bow. One wing is broken and the break is worn smooth. The brooch is 21mm wide and is a dull grey. The entire bow and the front of the wings have slight ridges along their length. Otherwise, there is no decoration.
