Copper alloy brooch. Cast Colchester brooch, Mackreth type C 3.3. Short plain wings mask a three coiled spring with a chord held by a backward pointing hook which projects from the back of the wings. The wings are at the top of a narrow bow with rounded front and facetted back which tapers to a plain foot [catch plate lost]. Suggested date: Late Iron Age, 25-50.

An incomplete late Iron Age or Roman copper alloy brooch of rosette derivative (or thistle) form dating from the first century, about AD 25-60. The object is 48.9mm long, 29.7mm wide and 16.4mm thick also weighs 17.51g and is relatively complete in comparison with other extant examples of its type. This description is based on that of a very similar, though less complete, brooch identified by the Kent FLO, Jo Ahmet, KENT-5F581D.

An incomplete, copper alloy, late Iron Age to early Roman bow brooch, of the Colchester type. Spring, pin and catch plate missing, as is the tip of the bow. Simple spring hook intact, either side of which are two, short flattened wings. Iron Age or Roman copper alloy annular brooch fragment. 35mm in length, 4mm wide and 2mm thick with a weight of 2.38grams.
The object consists of most of an annular brooch with a flat rectangular cross sectioned loop and a terminal consisting of a folded over rectangle of the loop, 4mm thick and 7mm long. The surface without the fold has two sets of five? transverse incised lines. One set close to the terminal and worn, the other near the break but much more worn.

The brooch consists of solid, semi-circular short wings which contain a spring, half of which is present and has 4 coils. The bow emerges at a sharp right angle from the wings and has a rectangular cross section. It widens slightly towards its base and is decorated with a single, centrally placed, rectilinear depession.

A copper alloy Colchester brooch, dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman period.
The wings are flat sectioned and sub-triangular in plan. There is a projection from the underside of the head which is part of the pin and there is another loop on the top of the head is the rearward lug. The bow has an oval section and tapers towards the foot. The catchplate and pin are nearly completely missing.
