An incomplete copper-alloy possible brooch back plate of Early-Medieval date, c.AD 450 - 750. The object is sub-triangular with a flat base and humped upper edge. The base curves forwards slightly and appears to have been cut. Both ends are broken and worn. Iron corrosion is present to the centre of the plate. A sub-ovate lump of corroded iron is present at the centre of the reverse, behind the corrosion visible on the front. This is suggestive of a hinge or spring mechanism. The object is undecorated.
