Copper alloy brooch. A small cast Colchester derivative brooch with a sprung rear-hook fastening [spring lost], Mackreth type CD RH 5.k. Semi-circular or concave wings open behind are clasped by a plain bow of rounded section with the broken stub of a rearward-facing hook on the top of the bow. The bow tapers towards a plain foot though only an area of roughened texture may indicate the former position of a catch plate. Suggested date: Early Roman, 50-100 Length: 20.5mm, Width: 18.1mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 5.7mm, Weight: 3.18gms

The uppermost part bears opposed sub-triangular lappets occupied by Salin style I decoration with a rectangular panel between them. A incomplete Roman copper-alloy Colchester derrivative brooch, dating to c.AD 75 - 175.  The brooch is in two parts The upper bow and wings form one half, the lower bow and catchplate form the other, the pin is missing. The hollow cylindrical wings are undecorated, the upper bow has a central protruding rib along the bow, at the top of this ridge is a circular loop, the rib terminates at the foot of the brooch. The rear of the brooch is undecorated and retains a rectangular catchplate to the rear.  Length: 38.5 mm Width: 16.3 mm Weight: 5.16 g

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy trumpet brooch, dating to c.AD 75 - 175. The upper bow and head remain, the lower bow, catch plate and pin are missing. The oval head is worn and is decorated with tows of pellets, the rear of the head has retained two supporting lugs for the now missing pin. The upper bow extends from the head it is circular in section, it is decorated with pellets, it tapers then widens at the middle of the bow to a globular knop. the bow tapers again but terminates in an old worn break.  Length: 27.7 mm Width: 12.7 mm Weight: 5.83 g
