A silver annular brooch that has a semicircular cross-section frame with a constriction to one side to mount the pin. The frame is decorated with four animal heads that are arranged into two set. The first group is bordering the constriction bar with the two heads facing each other and the bar in between. Each head has a raised, square cranium with pellet eyes in the two froward faceted corners and upwardly projecting knop ears above the rear two corners. A complete copper alloy gilded annular brooch dating to the medieval period (AD c. 1250-1450). The brooch is circular in shape and retains the pin. The pin was fitted into the brooch with a constriction in the edge of the brooch. The pin is sub-triangular in shape that tapers to a point. To the top of the pin is a circular collar. Some gilding is present on both surfaces of the object, no gilding survives on the edges. A complete Medieval gilded cast copper-alloy annular brooch dating c. AD 1200-1400. The frame is lozenge in cross-section. One half of the frame is plainly finished. The other half features a moulded twisted-cable design of curved bands and grooves. Within each groove is a line of circles. A short portion of the frame where these designs meet is constricted. An incomplete copper-alloy annular brooch of medieval date, c.AD 1250 – 1350. Approximately quarter of the brooch remains forming a shallow C-shaped piece with rectangular section. The fragment is decorated with a raised boss flanked by raised conjoined lozenge cells. The reverse if flat and undecorated with a depression corresponding to the boss. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The object is 27.2mm long, 8.3mm wide, 3.6mm thick and weighs 2.1g. A similar example is illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (2002), p.253, fig.1323 with a suggest date of AD 1250 - 1350. …
