A fragment of a Small Long Brooch of Early Medieval date (AD 500-600). The object is composed of a small square plate, with notches removed from the lower corners. The plate is decorated on the upper face with punched ring a dot motifs, in two rows of three, across the upper and lower portions of the plate. An incomplete cast copper-alloy early Anglo-Saxon quoit brooch dating from the 5th or 6th centuries AD. Only the pin is missing. The frame is flat in cross section being made of metal plate. It is circular in plan with a wide (10.6mm) frame surrounding a large central oval hole (c.15mm by 14mm wide) which has a projecting triangular cut out extending into the frame. The brooch is flat and circular, the edges are worn and broken so it is more an oval shape.The face is decorated with punched ring-and-dot motifs, one in the centre, and four equally spaced around the edge of the disc.  The reverse is not decorated.
