An incomplete cast copper-alloy early Anglo-Saxon quoit brooch dating from the 5th or 6th centuries AD. Only the pin is missing. The frame is flat in cross section being made of metal plate. It is circular in plan with a wide (10.6mm) frame surrounding a large central oval hole (c.15mm by 14mm wide) which has a projecting triangular cut out extending into the frame. This would have formed a V-shaped notch for the pin to pass throuh. On the opposite side of the frame to this notch is a smaller circular hole (2mm diameter) which would have held the pin.  B…

A fragment from a chip carved Early Medieval probably disc brooch. Only a small part of the plate and hinge survive. The plate fragment has part of the curved edge suggesting a disc shape for the brooch. No other decoration is now discernable; any incised or applied decoration originally present has likely been lost to corrosion. The reverse is undecorated and has an in-line catchplate and single hinge lug mounted on a flat ridge across the middle. Circa 5th-6th century.
