Incomplete pseudo-penannular brooch pin with integrally cast loop for frame (end missing), dating to the 9th century. The termainal consists of three lentoid cups separated by circular roundels in the place of debased heads, around a circular panel with two strand spiral.  The terminal tapers to form a zoomorphic head at junction of head and shaft, with pointed ears, lentoid eyes and snout which is perforated by a secondary rivet (implying repair or repurposing). Incomplete Type H Penannular Brooch with tinned surface. There are traces of decoration on the flattened sections of the brooch. The surface has a smooth patina, although interrupted by some patches of corrosion. The hoop was found in 2006 during landscaping works at Bryniau Mawr. The pin was found later using a metal detector. Neither hoop or pin was found in a stratified context.
