A cast lead disc, possibly a token or counter. The object is oval in shape and extremely worn. Most lead tokens are decorated with crudely moulded motifs on one or both faces. On one face of this example are vestigal traces of a pellets, while the other side appears to be blank. The lack of distinguishing features makes this object difficult to date, and it may be of the Medival or Post Medieval period. The token is in poor condition-wear and corrosion have caused thinning of the metal, which is splitting at the edges, and some deformation has occurred, probably after burial. Many o…

A large circular coin or token. The coin is slightly too large to be a Roman sestertius, with a diameter of 37.3 mm and does not seem thick enough (3.5 mm). However, it is not a milled coin and it is quite irregular, and is thus not one of the large coins of the milled coinage of the 18th or 19th centuries. It seems more likely that this is a token of some sort. Both obverse and reverse of the object are worn and indiscernible. A date is therefore very difficult to determine.

An unusual lead alloy token of uncertain date. The token appears bifacial but one side (the reverse) being almost indescribable due to wear; the pattern is hard to decipher but could have gridded elements. Alternatively it may simply be marking from the manufacturing process and not a design at all. Also on this side is a thin score or shallow cut from across the token's diameter. A rounded pellet in the centre also has a thin score through it. It is unclear what these scores are for or why or how they were made. It is the obverse of this token that is of interest.
