Brass sestertius of Marcus Aurelius as Augustus (c.AD 161-180), Victory holding shield on trunk of palm tree with VIC PAR on shield, 2nd issue, c.AD 166; BMC 1290; RIC 934-5 This coin was struck to celebrate the Roman victory over the Parthian army in the East (note VIC PAR on the shield). The Romans even reached the Parthian capital Ctesiphon, in modern Iraq, which they sacked in AD 165. This coin is square in shape and would have come from a square blank clipped from a rectangular row of blanks, which was common way of producing sestertii in the 2nd century AD.

Lead or gun-metal cast of a Sestertius of Orbiana, wife of Severus Alexander (222-35AD). Type as RIC IV, pt. 2, p. 122, no. 657. It is hard to say whether this is a contemporary or modern copy. Cast coins were produced in the 3rd century, often called "Limesfalsa", singular "Limesfalsum". However, this piece is apparently not made from copper alloy, but from a lead or zinc based alloy. To make a more considered judgement, the Finds Adviser would need to see this coin.

A very worn and corroded Roman copper-alloy coin: probably a sestertius of 2nd-century date, possibly Antoninus Pius This coin has been pierced at a later date, probably for jewellery. The piercing respects the obverse bust and probably the reverse design too, although this latter is difficult to discern. The cusping around the perforation to create semicircular shoulders is presumed to be deliberate.
