A broken cut halfpenny of William II (AD 1087-1100), 'cross in quatrefoil' type dating to the period c. AD 1089-1092. The last letter of the moneyer's name (N) and the first letter of the mint (P) are visible. Although it is not possible to ascribe this coin to a moneyer and mint conclusively the combination of letters does narrow it down to the following: Colbern at Wallingford or Aestan at Winchester. North N852.

A complete but worn and bent Medieval Anglo-Norman silver penny of William II (AD 1087-1100). Cross in quatrefoil type minted 1089-1092?. Probably Lincoln mint or possibly Chester and of uncertain moneyer. The name of the moneyer appears to end with the letter F (possibly E). The spacing between letters, however, does not appear to give sufficient space for SVNOVLF.ON.LEGECE which appears to be the only match listed in North for this combination of letters. Coin Reference: Type William II BMC ii, North No.852.
