Unusual post-medieval issue of George II, possibly a copper-alloy or tin farthing. The coin was made from cu-alloy, but it also has a central perforation which suggests that it had a tin plug. Usually, however, it is the other way around, i.e. tin farthings have a copper alloy plug in the centre. Also, as this is an issue of George II dating from c. AD1727-60, it would be a very late tin/copper alloy farthing.

A worn counterfeit copper-alloy halfpenny of George II, dating to the period 1727-1760. A laureate head can just be discerned in in the centre of the obverse, and the legends are damaged. On regular issues, II in the legend can be seen behind the head, which is not the case on this coin. On the reverse, traces of a central figure can be seen and on either side of this are the cursive letters J P. Diameter: 22.5mm, thickness: 2.2mm, weight: 3.1g.
