A fragment of a ceramic vessel of uncertain date. The fragment is a body sherd with hard and coarse fabric of a dark brownish-orange colour. Numerous small quartz inclusions are present within the fabric. The fragment is 52.5mm long, 23.8mm wide, 10mm thick and weighs 15.5g. Generic fabric types such as this with no specific diagnostic features can be difficult to date precisely and range from Iron Age to medieval in date. However, it seems probable that this sherd is from a hand made vessel which suggests an earlier date.

A small fragment of gold, dished and decorated on the outside of the curve, possibly broken from some kind of vessel. The decoration appears to be a plant design, of probable late medieval date. The inner side is undecorated. The exact character of the object is uncertain. There is no reason to doubt that this object meets the 10% threshold required by the Treasure Act, or that it is more than 300 years old. As such it therefore qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the Act.

Glass, white (i.e. clear, but with a greenish tint) Possible Vessel fragment. Melted glass, with an angular corner which might suggest this comes from the base of a vessel, or from the corner of a thick pane. As there is no iridescence, this may either be a fragment of Roman soda glass or glass of much later date, but is unlikely to be Medieval or Early Post-Medieval potash glass. It is also uncertain whether this may represent glassworking, or simply the incorporation of glass shards in a bonfire. Date: Unknown, from Roman to Modern, 40-2000. Thickness: 4.3mm, Weight: 2.82gms.
