A copper-alloy vessel repair of undertain date. The plate is roughly square, two opposing sides being parallel but of differing lengths, the longer side has its two corners folded over on themselves. The other two sides are not parallel but narrow down to meet the shortest side. A large perforation (diameter approx 8mm), has been punched through from the reverse and is situated midway between the two folded corners and 6.6mm from the edge of the longest side. Parallel with the shortest side there have been two crude repairs of similar diameter to the above mentioned one. The reverse o…

The vessel repair comprises a roughly rectangular outer plate of lead and a smaller, roughly circular shaped inner plate joined by a central lead plug which would have filled the hole in the vessel. Between the two lead plates, can be seen what is presumably the ceramic or other material from which the vessel may have been made. The outer plate is 52.83mm in width at its greatest and c 2.75mm thick. The ceramic is black and is possibly Black Burnished Ware, c 4.77mm thick. An incomplete lead vessel of unknown date. The remains are 68.20mm in height, 65.70 in width and the object has walls between 2.50mm and 4mm thick. It weighs c80g. What is extant is the top part (shoulders and some part of the walls) of what appears to have been a three sided vessel, the spout still in place. The inside of the vessel shows no sign of what it might have held, or enclosed. The outside is extremely ornate, each of the three sides (only part of one still present, the other two assumed from the shape of the shoulders of the vessel) decorated with moulding of a classical…

Two ovoid lead pot-mends of Roman to Post-Medieval date (AD 43-1800). Each carries a small piece of earthenware, possibly Roman greyware, but not enough survives to be certain. Both have one flatter face and one domed face. They measure and weigh 31.99x27.01x9.81mm and 44.3g; 22.07x17.08x9.02mm and 13.7g. Unfortunately such repairs are not diagnostic; a wide date range is therefore offered.

A lead vessel mend of Roman to post medieval date (c. AD 43 - 1800). The vessel mend measures 40.13mm in length, 26.98mm in width, is 8.39mm thick and weighs 24.11g. There is no ceramic visible, making it impossible to determine a more precise date. The vessel repair consists of an unevenly shaped piece of lead sheet with an oval projection on one side which would have been used to plug the hole in the vessel. The lead is off-white in colour with patches of grey caused by recent abrasion.
