Two lead pot mends of unknown exact date but probably dated to the Roman to Medieval periods (c. AD 43-1500). The two pot mends are irregularly oval in plan, with a waisted medial line across each mend representing the moulding of the lead into the break in the pot. Both objects have a whitish-grey patina. Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery, therefore without contextual information the accurate dating of such objects can be quite difficult. The overall dimensions are as follows: Pot mend one: 18…

An incomplete rim fragment of a copper-alloy vessel of unknown date (c. AD 100 - 1800). It is irregular in plan and profile. The fragment consists of a sheet of copper-alloy of varying thickness shaped the form a rim; a second piece of copper-alloy sheet has been adhered to the rim so that the sheet is folding back upon itself. The shape of the vessel fragment has been distorted in the ploughsoil so that the broken edge of the vessel body is now bent at a sharper angle. There is no visible decoration. The fragment is dark green in colour and has been heavily abraded. A similar frag…

A complete probable pot mend of uncertain exact date. The object is formed of a flat, irregularly shaped disc, which tapers to a waisted area. From here an irregularly shaped and rounded form spreads lengthways beyond the edges of the flat disc. The disc appears to represent the outer face of the mend whilst the form behind appears to represent the hardening of the molten metal as it was poured into the affected area of the vessel. The object has a dark green patina. The overall dimensions are as follows: 49.23mm in length, 18.82mm in width, 20.68mm in thickness and 27.79g in weight.

A rim sherd from a glass vessel of unknown age. It is triangular, and it is clear and colourless. The very top of the rim is rounded, with a thin strip of what appears to be lead running through it. This rounded section has a diameter of roughly 5.71mm, and beneath it there is an incision on the exterior of the glass, where the thickness reduces to 4.82mm, before rising to a ridge where the thickness is 5.06mm. After the ridge, the surface starts to curve inward. The glass is relatively clean, and there seem to be few bubbles in the glass.

An incomplete, copper alloy object, likely a spout. The object was made from a single sheet of copper alloy 0.68mm thick, curved into a conical shape and with a rim around the larger aperture that was made from some of the sheet being bent over and inwards. The object is now torn largely in half along the length of the object, and it has also been flattened. There are additional tears on the object, and there are some chips along the length of the tear that runs along the length of the object. It has a brown to olive green patina, suggesting that it is not particularly old and is …
