Two lead pot mends of unknown exact date but probably dated to the Roman to Medieval periods (c. AD 43-1500). The two pot mends are irregularly oval in plan, with a waisted medial line across each mend representing the moulding of the lead into the break in the pot. Both objects have a whitish-grey patina. Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery, therefore without contextual information the accurate dating of such objects can be quite difficult. The overall dimensions are as follows: Pot mend one: 18…

An incomplete rim fragment of a copper-alloy vessel of unknown date (c. AD 100 - 1800). It is irregular in plan and profile. The fragment consists of a sheet of copper-alloy of varying thickness shaped the form a rim; a second piece of copper-alloy sheet has been adhered to the rim so that the sheet is folding back upon itself. The shape of the vessel fragment has been distorted in the ploughsoil so that the broken edge of the vessel body is now bent at a sharper angle. There is no visible decoration. The fragment is dark green in colour and has been heavily abraded. A similar frag…

A rim sherd from a glass vessel of unknown age. It is triangular, and it is clear and colourless. The very top of the rim is rounded, with a thin strip of what appears to be lead running through it. This rounded section has a diameter of roughly 5.71mm, and beneath it there is an incision on the exterior of the glass, where the thickness reduces to 4.82mm, before rising to a ridge where the thickness is 5.06mm. After the ridge, the surface starts to curve inward. The glass is relatively clean, and there seem to be few bubbles in the glass.
