Copper alloy leg of a post-medieval skillet or pipkin, a cauldron type vessel with 3 legs. The object is anthropomorphic in style, representing a human leg and foot. The leg is triangular in section. Above the foot is a protruding lip, the foot is then flat on the floor. A leg of the same style was found in York and dates to the late 15th- early 16th centuries (Ottaway and Rogers; 2002; 2809-10) but similar styles continued until around the 18th century.

Post Medieval or Early Modern cast lead-alloy vessel or furniture leg, very heavy compared to size. The foot is plain and does not resemble an animal's paw. It has an oval moulding underneath the foot so that it did not actually touched the ground but was elevated ca. 15mm.

Five body sherds of unglazed pottery which appear to be frost shattered. The fabric is pinkish orange on the outer surface, fading to light grey on the inner surface. It is very fine with sandy inclusions. The date of this pottery is not obvious but is likely to be post medieval or modern.

Base sherd from a vessel of a pinkish buff fabric with quartz inclusions. A yellow glaze survives in patches on the interior and exterior surfaces. Although this sherd resembles medieval Tees Valley ware, there is partial brown slip decoration visible under the glaze on the exterior, showing that it is a base fragment of a Staffordshire-type slipware mug. It therefore dates to the late 17th or 18th century.

Dark-brown glazed earthenware sherd of a hollow-ware vessel, e.g. a storage pot, dating to the 17th-19th centuries. It was glazed only on the inside to make it waterproof. The grooves on the inside are not part of the decoration, but grooves left by the potter's fingers during the potting of the vessel.

Very small vessel sherd of brown-glazed red earthenware dating to the late 17th-early 18th century. It was glazed on both sides and comes from a comparatively thin vessel suggesting that the vessel was tableware rather than meant for storage.

A fragment of 'Tudor greenware'; postmedieval glazed pottery. It has the characteristic cream-buff fabric colour, with a grass green surface, decorated with sinuous lines (possibly comb-drawn). The sherd weighs 17.0g, measures 46.4mm wide x 32.4mm long, and has a maximum thickness of 11.6mm (at a thickened area, presumably where the vessel wall met its base). This form of pottery dates to the 16th century.

Incomplete cast copper alloy receptacle leg, probably from a cauldron, with a pronounced central rib tapering to a worn 'hoof' foot with no collar. The foot is slightly flared in its width and rounded at its base. Butler and Green (2003) illustrate a similar example of Mid Wales Type on page 139, Fig.2, No.8, and another on page 166, Fig.1, which are both dated to the 16th century. Read (1988) illustrates a similar example on page 95, No.591, which is dated from the 13th to the 17th century.

Two 19th century brown stoneware jars which have a slip or glaze. They both taper towards the top where there is a shallow rolled lip. One is smaller than the other and the smaller one has lost some of its glaze/slip. These jars were found under the floorboards of a house with a stone carved face see LVPL-554BD1. Noramlly these objects would be too late to record on the PAS database but due to their association with the stone head they have been recorded.

A glass seal roundel from an onion bottle or similar. The glass was originally a yellow-green as can be seen from the break but the outer surfaces are now coated with irridescent corrosion which is caused by the leaching of silica to the surface. Due to corrosion it is not possible to make full sense of the inscription but it does appear to refer to a William and to Oxfordshire. The seal has a diameter of 41.4mm.

Rim sherd of a thin walled (thick rimmed) Midlands Purple Ware pottery vessel, probably a bowl or storage jar of post medieval date (1600 – 1700). This sherd is relatively fresh with broken edges. The fabric of the sherd is a very hard earthenware with a number of small rounded and sub-angular grit, ironstone, quartz (feldspar) inclusions. There is also a high proportion of mica and sand like grains present in the fabric. The fabric colour is mid grey purple and the inner and outer surfaces of both sherds are a mottled purple grey. Although the sherd has not been glazed there are spo…

Three abraded body sherds of pottery probably dating from the post medieval period (1500-1700 AD). The sherds are all relatively thick and irregular in plan. The fabric is a relatively hard fired earthenware with a number of small angular and sub-angular grit, quartz, grog and ironstone inclusions. The fabric also has large amounts of mica within it. The fabric colour is a uniform mid orange brown. At least one of the interiors of the sherds has been burnished, producing a fine smooth surface. Not enough of the sherds survive to suggest the size or form of the vessels. The dating of th…

A worn, plain copper-alloy sheet rivet which would have been used to hold repairs to a vessel in place. The object is sub-rectangular in form, having originally been hexagonal. It has been folded in on itself from the sides before being folded back. The object is particularly corroded on one face with a blackish hue compared to a dark green patina on the smaller folds. Corroded iron remains in one of the folds suggests at the composition of the vessel this was used to repair. Similar examples found in Norwich tend to be found in post-medieval contexts (Margeson 1993, 92-93; refs. 574, 575).
