An incomplete cast copper alloy object of uncertain function and date but possibly a strap end of medieval to modern date. The object is formed from two strips of tapering rectangular metal both with a rectangular cross section. At the narrower end on piece of metal is worn and broken and the other bends back on itself. The metal is a light brownish-green colour and is worn. The object is 48.1mm long, 5.8mm wide, 2.9mm thick and weighs 4g. Due to the lack of contextual evidence and any diagnostic features it is not possible to identify or date this find any more closely.

A copper-alloy cast strap end (probably). The strap end has a split opening for the strap. There is a circular perforation on each part of the split end for a rivet. The strap end terminates in two globular balls (each approximately 7.5 mm thick), each on a stem which projects from the flat body of the strap end. The strap end measures 27.49 mm long, 20.34 mm wide (at its terminal) and 5.27 mm thick. No published parallel has yet been found for this strap end, and its date is therefore still uncertain. However, a very similar object is recorded on this database as NARC-F0E7E6. The…

A cast copper-alloy object of uncertain function, but possibly a looped strap end or possibly a dress fastener. An alternative function might be a cosmetic aticle, although this seems more unlikely. The object is waisted in the centre, tapering from 10.5 mm wide to 4.2 mm at one end. This end terminates in a knop. Just above the waist there is an incised horizontal line and after this line the object is also decorated with three barely visible vertical lines running down towards the knop. The other end of the object is folded over to form a loop, although whether it was originally d…

A copper-alloy cast strap end. The strap end has a split opening for the strap. The remains of an iron rivet passes through the strap end at this point. The strap end terminates in two globular balls (each approximately 6.2 mm thick), each on a stem which projects from the flat body of the strap end. The strap end measures 21.25 mm long, 23.27 mm wide (at its terminal) and 2 mm thick. No parallel has yet been found for this strap end, and its date is therefore still uncertain. The globular balls may have facilitated the object's use as an attachment toggle of some sort.

Buckle or strap end; initially kindly identified as the latter by John Creighton. Length; 34mm, Max Width: 22mm, Weight: 4.2gms. Helen Geake kindly comments as follows: 'Do you think this one might be a medieval buckle? Comparanda might include SUSS-3F54B8, HAMP-90E1F4 and KENT-BB04B2'. This reporter would find it invidious to favour one of these authorities over the other, and so a correspondingly broader date range is advanced than hitherto,

Unusual and hard-to-date strap-end made from copper alloy. The attachment end is broken off, and the strap-end now consists only of one sheet 27.5 mm long, decorated on one face with five ring-and-dot motifs, tapering from 9 mm wide at the broken end to 8 mm wide at the narrower end which has two curved cut-outs at the corners. Off centre, between the ring-and-dot at the narrow end and its neighbour, is a small copper-alloy rivet which cuts through the ring. This strap-end is certainly post-Roman, and may be early Anglo-Saxon; it is not middle or late Anglo-Saxon, but may be medieval.

Cast copper-alloy two-piece strap-end. Narrow, tongue-shaped with rounded end. Edges and surface very badly damaged and pitted. Two copper-alloy rivets intact arranged vertically, securing plate at top. Traces of a further rivet hole. This object is difficult to date positively, due to its poor condition with the loss of much of its surface and therefore, also possibly diagnostic decoration.

Fragment of a copper-alloy item, possibly a strap end. The object is sub-retangular and 31 mm in length. It is 10 mm wide. One end appears to be a deliberate terminal of the item whilst the other end has been broken. 2 mm below the terminal is a circular hole, 3 mm in diameter. At the broken end there is evidence of a similar hole, although the break has occurred mid way across its diameter. The item is undecorated on both of its sides. It is difficult to place a date on such a fragmentary item.
