A copper alloy brooch, probably a dolphin type, in rather poor condition and with iron corrosion products deposited on it. The brooch has no iron used in its manufacture so this may come from proximity to an iron object after burial. Due to damage the wing measurement of 9mm is approximate

A complete copper-alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from 75-175 AD. Behind the head, the circular headloop remains intact and complete, where a hinged copper-alloy pin would have been held in place with a cylindrical axis bar.
The upper bow is rhomboid in section and undecorated. The central moulding, which does not extend to the back of the brooch, consists of three petals either side of a moulded ridge.
