Incomplete cast copper alloy Polden Hill brooch. The brooch has short wings that are semi-cylindrical in cross-section and terminate with pierced end-plates. There is a copper alloy spring held in place via the two pierced plates and also a rearward hook in the centre coming off the top of the bow. The pin is missing. The bow is incomplete, D-shaped in cross-section and decorated with three ribs. The surface of the brooch has been silvered.

Roman copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, Severn Valley, northern Midlands and Marches), cf.Mackreth 2011, 4.l.c. pg. 75, Plate 49. It is 51mm long, 21mm wide and 13mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 13.39 grams. The brooch is missing its spring, pin and catchplate but is otherwise complete. Its bow is decorated with vertical incised lines which join to form a V near its base.

D-sectioned bow decorated with a grooved triangle above a transverse moulded flute, which is underlined by a transverse groove. Below this the bow narrows sharply towards the foot. Wingspan 23mm. The brooch has circular sectioned, solid wings which are decorated with two vertical raised bands, one at the edge and one in the centre. A Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Langton Down Type dating to the mid 1st century AD (25-60 AD). The brooch is incomplete and is represented by the head and upper bow only with a surviving length of 19.5mm and a weight of 3.11 grams. The foot, catchplate, spring and pin are missing from old breaks. Of the head only part of the cylindrical cover which held the spring survives. A fragment of a Colchester-derivative bow brooch of Roman date (c. AD 43 –c. AD 100). Length: 12.0mm; width: 20.1mm and 9.3mm thick. Weight: 2.93g. The fragment consists of the upper part of the bow, wings and a double-perforated lug. The break on the bow is old. The semi-cylindrical wings appear to be complete. Cast copper alloy Roman Polden Hill brooch of flat wing ends type. Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings would have held the spring support bar. The ends of the wings are expanded and have decorative moulding on the forward edge. Remains of a rearward facing hook on the top of the head which would have held the external cord. A long thin triangular cell runs down half of the length of the bow, this would have originally held enamel. Catch plate on the reverse. Date AD 80-120. Length 51mm, width 30mm, thickness 17mm, weight 17.12g.

Roman copper alloy Hod Hill brooch fragment, 24mm long, 20mm wide and 4mm thick. The brooch is in poor condition with a brown patina and weighs 6.91grams. The object consists of the upper part of the bow. It begins with a circular sectioned shaft which sits above a sub rectangular plate. This has a narrower lower section which is set back slightly giving the fragment an S shaped section. There are traces of a possible raised band running down the centre of the upper half, but otherwsie the object appears plain.

Roman copper alloy bow brooch, 38mm long, 27mm wide and 16mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 11.27 grams. The brooch has circular sectioned wings with a spring of 12 coils. The wings are decorated with a centrally placed band consisiting of an incised border containing a herringbone like pattern. The bow is sub circular in secion and has a ridge on its upper portion. It is decorated with several incised lines running its length and has a rounded terminal. It has a sub triangaluar catchplate and a pin, both of which are intact.

The bow is flattish in profile and at the top the expanded head curls rearwards for the accommodation of the axis bar for the hinged pin. Cast copper-alloy disc brooch of wheel type dating from the early Roman period, i.e. the 2nd century AD. The brooch has lost half its pin and the body is slightly bent, but it is in good condition otherwise. The brooch employed a hinge mechanism with twin lugs and an iron axis bar.
