The find consists of a disc of copper alloy overlaid by a thick, embossed sheet of silver decorated with raised triangles radiating round a central boss and interspersed with ladder-pattern strips. There is a pierced circular lobe on the edge above the end of the hinge for the pin. The overlay is folded round the sides of the brooch and the back is tinned. Incomplete Copper Alloy object. Possibly a brooch or a clasp. The object has a flat leaf like shape, which appears to be broken at its pointed end; there is a small circular perforation at its base on its obverse side. The base tapers into a ‘stalk’ which then curls back on itself. The reverse of the object is plain and undecorated, but the perforation is clear. The object has a green and brown patina and has a rough and uneven texture. The object weighs 6.3g and is 51.97mm length and 22.70mm in width tapering to 12.41mm at its pointed end. It’s exact date and function is unknown.

A fragment of copper-alloy object, possibly part of a crudely manufactured Roman bow brooch dating to the first to third century AD. The object is hemispherical in section and tapers slightly towards one end, which is broken. An incomplete gold dog brooch of uncertain date, possibly early Post-Medieval. This three dimensional brooch seems to have been hollow or at least the body was hollow. The dog is positioned left with the head turned forwards. One ear is missing however the ear nearest the tail survives in good condition. All four legs are missing and there is a break across the chest area that is now filled with mud. The curled tail survives. Roman copper alloy plain hinged bow brooch, 26mm long, 22mm wide and 7mm deep. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 2.98grams. The brooch has circular sectioned solid wings which sit above the bow at an angle and form a central rectangualr void, presumambly where the hinge fitted.
