Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings which hold the spring support bar, the spring is made from eleven curls, the pin is missing. There is a crest that runs down the length of the head, this has a rearward facing hook at it apex that holds the external cord of the spring. Fantail foot marked with an arrow-like motif, it centre filled with mid-green enamel and the surrounding field filled with mid-blue. Copper alloy brooch of Colchester type, pin missing, foot damaged. Bow has a flattened oval section down the back of which runs a groove. This contains a line of small, conjoined, open centred lozenges. Foot originally openwork, now broken and bent. Wings flat sectioned each wing decorated with two transverse lines. End of the bow is faceted where it joins the wings. Beneath the wings was a coiled spring, four coils survive on one side, other side missing. Spring held in place by a triangular projection cast on the end of the bow.

The main feature of the brooch consists of a circular cell with six cells radiating from it, some of which contain red enamel though its not clear what colour the others contained. The central wheel is surrounded by a deep concentric channel. this has two triangular lugs springing from opposite sides. From the lower side of the circle springs a triangular foot section with a marginal groove and four triangular cells, two of which have more red enamel. The bow is broad and thin, at its base a central rib runs towards the spring housing and may once of extended beyond the bow for the spring to attach to. Under the bow is rectangular groove for the spring, with a further square grove under the remaining arm. The brooch is dark green with extensive area of light green corrosion. Roman copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, West Midlands, Mackreth 2011, 4.c). The brooch is fragmentary and is represented by the head only (with a surviving length of 29.1mm, a surviving depth of 13mm and a weight of 10.6g). The spring gear has largely been lost but the remnants of 2 coils are still present around a fragmentary iron axis bar. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends type), Mackreth 2011, 4.l. Plate 48. The brooch is fragmentary and is represented by the head only (with a surviving length of 30.7mm, a surviving depth of 13.0mm and a weight of 18.3g). The spring has been lost and the head is damaged. It is now unclear whether the missing spring was secured by a rearward claw at the head, implying a Dolphin type, or by lateral lugs suggesting a Polden Hill type. Late Iron Age to early Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Birdlip variant type and probably of mid to late 1st century AD date The brooch is near-complete, missing the spring (with a length of 54.4mm, a depth of 18.5mm and a weight of 12.9g). The missing spring was secured around a central, perforated lug at the rear of the head. A slight gap between the base of the head and the lug, suggests that the chord was positioned beneath. A slightly unusual incomplete Roman (AD 50-150) copper alloy Colchester Derivative, of Harlow type brooch, with damaged wings and missing its spring mechanism and pin. It measures 57.83mm in length and weighs 14.9g. The wings are D-shaped in cross-section being flat to the reverse. They are broken at either end and span an incomplete 17.12mm. An incomplete cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Part 3, Group 4.a-b, flat wing ends type) of Roman date (80-120 AD). The wings are almost complete; they are semi-cylindrical in plan with abraded but probably pierced end caps. The axis bar, spring and pin are lost. An abraded swelling is positioned centrally on the wings this is probably the remains of a rearward facing hook. The bow head is hump-like and the bow is D shaped in cross section.
