Copper alloy Roman hinge-headed brooch, possibly of Hod Hill Class A type. The head of the brooch is flat and separated into two sections by a narrow rectangular slot located slightly off centre which would have accommodated the pin hinge. The head is rolled to accommodate the iron axis bar, some of which may still survive as there is some iron corrosion on the head of the brooch. The head tapers to the bow. A copper-alloy Roman disc brooch. The plate is circular and has a raised thick outer rim followed by two raised thin concentric mouldings. There are recesses between the circular mouldings and there is a central depression. The outer rim and central circle are raised higher than the circle in between. There are traces of gilding on the upper surface of the outer rim. The reverse is flat and rises slightly towards the centre beneath the original position of the pin. Incomplete Roman Colchester brooch, cf Mackreth 2011, C 8 Plate 27. One wing survives and is almost semi-cylindrical and has part of an incised vertical line at the end. The lug behind the head has two perforations to secure the spring and external chord. The curved bow is almost cylindrical in section and has two incised longitudinal lines extending from the head to the mid bow. The lower bow, catchplate and foot are missing. The spring has ten coils and is heavily bent and the pin is missing.

A Roman brooch Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, Western Group). The head, wings and spring survive. There is a lug extending from the head of the brooch through which the spring passes. The spring has twelve complete turns. The pin is missing. There is a bar around which the spring is coiled. Fragment, cast copper-alloy Hod Hill brooch, Type 62. There are transverse mouldings at the junction of the bow and foot and above the foot-knob. The short bow has a ridge at either side and one in the middle. There are lateral lugs with a terminal knob set in the middle of each side of the bow; one of which is missing. The upper part of the head, hinge and pin are missing. Catchplate intact. Trace of white metal coating on foot. Mid-green patina.

Fragment, circular, flat, enamelled large disc brooch. The decoration on the upper surface consists of a central copper-alloy circular cell with no enamel intact. Around this there are six smaller circular cells with central copper-alloy pellet with dark blue enamel in field. The field around the small circular cells is infilled with turquoise enamel, much of which survives. Missing sprung pin attached between two semi-circular lugs. Iron corrosion from pin. Catchplate intact. Reverse surface heavily corroded. One edge badly damaged.

Copper alloy Colchester type two-piece brooch (Colchester B). The wings are concave and one is broken at c. 5mm from the bow. The other wing extends for a length of c. 7mm. Incomplete copper alloy flat disc brooch with a plain edge. Moulded decoration comprising a plain outer border and a rare quinqueskele pattern and a central bronze annulet. There would most likely have been enamel in all the recesses, however only traces of red enamel survive in the area between the main decorative pattern and the inner annulet. Copper-alloy large Strip-bow brooch (Hull Type 58). The straight-sided rectangular-sectioned slightly curving bow tapers elegantly to a plain foot. The bow has longitudinal grooves at either edge which terminate at the head in a pointed end. The grooves create a slight ridge down the centre of the bow, which accentuates as the bow narrows.
