Incomplete copper alloy Roman oval plate brooch. There is an oval reserved metal ridge at the centre and a similar metal ridge around the outer edge which divides the plate into two zones, much of which is now missing. The area between the two ridges originally contained enamel. Traces of perhaps turquoise enamel survives in a small area. There are the remains of a pierced single lug for the missing pin and a scar from the missing catchplate on the reverse. Patchy mid-green patina.

An incomplete copper alloy Roman T-shape brooch dating from the late 1st to mid-second century. A small semi-circular tab projects from the top of the head (Th. 1.11mm). The heavily worn wings are short, possibly broken and are 15mm wide and 3.2mm wide. The bow is slightly angled, incomplete and is D-shaped in section (L. 19.87mm. W. 8.95-5.23mm. Th. 1.80mm). The upper part of the bow is decorated with two cross-cut raised lozenges down the centre and deep longitudinal grooves down the outer edges. Copper alloy disc brooch of Roman date. The main body has an outer rim which is raised followed by a raised thin circle and a raised thick circle. There are depressions between the circles and a central depression. One depression contains red enamel. The outer edge bears moulded decoration in the form of flat peripheral lugs now only two present with six broken off. There are traces of white metal coating on the upper surface. The reverse is flat with the remains of a double pin lug and catchplate protruding . The pin is missing. Patchy mid-green patina.

An incomplete Roman copper alloy oval plate brooch. There is a central oval recess to hold a setting which is now missing and there is damage to the plate behind the setting. Around the oval recess, there is part of a border of ’X’ stamps and gilding survives only on this small area. Beyond the row of stamps, there is a shallow moulding. There is an incomplete single pierced lug to hold the missing pin and what survives of the catchplate is bent. Very slight trace of white metal coating on the back. Little of the original surface survives on this brooch.

Mid 1st to Late 2nd Century copper alloy flat disc brooch with a plain edge. The upper surface has a thin, plain raised border and bears a raised hexactinal pattern with circular elements at the points. The area between this pattern and the raised border is inlaid with black enamel. Copper alloy Colchester type two-piece brooch (Colchester B). The wings are concave and one is broken at c. 5mm from the bow. The other wing extends for a length of c. 7mm. There is an intact double pierced lug on the reverse of the wings in the centre and the spring, which has six turns, is also intact. There would most likely have been enamel in all the recesses, however only traces of red enamel survive in the area between the main decorative pattern and the inner annulet. Cast copper-alloy oval plate brooch. The oval plate has a central cell, now empty, and around that, traces of alternating blue and red enamel bands. The bands are of uneven length, with the blue bands, which are less well-preserved than the red ones, being longer. Both the inner and outer borders have a white metal coating. Single perforated lug, with iron corrosion on it from missing pin and iron axis bar. The edges of the catchplate (12mm long) are damaged.

Cast copper-alloy oval plate brooch with central glass setting. The oval plate was gilded on the front and there are traces of white metal coating on the reverse. In the central cell which is surrounded by a raised edge, is a black glass cone, which is complete apart from a small chip from the apex. The recess surrounding the glass setting is plain. The pin is missing, but there is much iron corrosion aroun the hinge. The catchplate, with a heavy fold, is intact.

Incomplete, cast copper-alloy plate brooch. Circular, with twelve rounded lugs, six of which are damaged, placed equidistantly around the perimeter. There is a six-pointed star , with a large circular pellet at centre. The star is infilled with red enamel, and the segments between each point of the star and the outer border are infilled alternately with blue and blue/green enamel. The sprung pin of three turns is housed between two semi-circular pierced lugs. The spring and axis bar are intact, but the pin is missing. Catchplate intact. The enamel survives in an excellent condition.

Almost complete, robust Knee brooch. The rectangular-sectioned bow is rounded in profile and tapers gently to a rectangular foot. The spring of eight turns is held by an iron axial bar fixed in a plain cylindrical spring-cover. There is a prominent transverse ridge on the upper bow and on the lower part of the rounded bow.
