A portion of the spring and bow of the brooch remains. The spring has two coils before being broken, this is not a recent break. The spring is formed by the bow tapering into the spring. The bow tapers for the spring, the upper portion swells slightly, and then gradually tapers to a blunt point. The bow is bent backwards at c. 90°, this probably not intentional. The surface of the brooch is corroded and undecorated.
