The bow head is a sub-circular shape with a moulded design which continues down the bow. The design appears to be a stylised horse head. The design has two high relief sub-oval eyes. A ridge defines the nose of the horse as it continues along the bow. Two annulets represent the nostrils. Below the nose the bow expands with a circular section, and then is broken off. On the reverse of the bow head there is an incomplete vertical lug with an incomplete circular hole.

The wings are semi-cylindrical with wing caps. Each wing cap has a hole to support the axis bar. Remains of the axis bar still remain in the holes. The wings are slightly uneven, one wing cap is slightly larger than the other. The bow head is not placed centrally between the wings. The bow head has a flat rectangular shape, the upper surface has a 'W' shaped section. The central ridge continues upwards and protrudes at the upper edge of the wings. There appears to be a hole running horizontally through the protrusion and contains the remains of a length of copper alloy wire, presumably…

The brooch has no wings, instead the spring is formed from the tip of the bow head which tapers forming a length of wire. The wire is then coiled twice around a separate copper alloy bar. The spring wire is incomplete. The copper alloy bar has slightly flared terminals as if to keep the spring in place. The colour of the patina of the bar is a lighter coloured green than that of the spring. The bow is flat and has wide 'shoulders' at the bow head which then tapers towards the bow foot. The bow is curved forming a semi-circle, and then is broken. Decoration on the bow consists of a sing…
