Cast copper alloy Roman brooch of 'Trumpet' type, 1st - 2nd century date, poor condition, the foot is missing and there is much loss of its original surface, the scrolled moulding on the upper part of the bow being almost lost. The bow is decorated with a central, transverse moulding flanked by two deep grooves and two smaller mouldings. The decorative details of the lower foot are lost. On the end of the bow is a disc-like projection bearing a deep, annular groove which contains traces of what may have been enamel. The underside of the 'trumpet' is hollow to a depth of 10mm. Copper alloy Roman (c. 60-150) brooch of 'Trumpet' type represented only by the loop and rosette once fixed to the head of the brooch. This consists of a 14.0mm diameter, diamond sectioned ring the ends of which taper and pass through two holes in a rectangular plate on the underside of the rosette after which they are splayed out. The rosette is circular and contains a conical central boss surrounded by radiating petals. Length 21.7mm, Width 21.1mm, Height 9.1mm, Mass 3.10g.

Copper alloy Roman brooch of Polden Hill type, first century AD, bow decorated with four longitudinal ribs, each marked with finely incised, oblique lines.These are flanked by narrow webs which run down each side of the brooch. The underside of the wings on the brooch's head is hollow to accomodate the coiled spring, now missing. At each end of the wings is a circular plate with a central hole to accomodate the axial pin that secured the sping.
