Fragment of a cast copper alloy saucer brooch. Central design consisted of six running spirals, the tendrils ending at the centre of each spiral in small rings with hollow centres. In the centre of the brooch is another similar ring, with a circular ridge around it. Around all of this is a plain raised ring. Only 2.5mm of the original edge survives but this is turned up, representing the angle of the brooch's angled rim. On the back of the brooch is a 7.0mm long x 2.0mm high rib which formed part of the catch plate.

The centre of the brooch has a small dome, around which are probably debased zoomorphic features. The central dome is made or coloured with a red ?enamel. The surface of the dome is slightly ?pitted. The zoomorphic features are high-relief and are not symmetrical, consisting of pellets (possibly eyes), 'P'-shapes, and slightly curved rectangular shapes. These components of the design have fine incised grooves to add detail to the design. There are traces of gilding. These features are bordered by two concentric rings of pellets which vary in width slightly. The edge of the brooch is he…

Early Anglo-Saxon small-long brooch made from cast copper alloy with the remains of an iron pin and spring on the reverse. The upper part (headplate) of the brooch is sub-square in plan. Although most of the edges are abraded the less abraded parts suggest that the this part of the brooch is nearly complete. The only decoration on the headplate is a vertical linear groove forming a border on the right-hand side. This does not seem to occur on the upper edge, and due to the abrasion on the left-hand side it is not visible. On the reverse there a single integral lug visible, aro…

The main body of the object is rectangular, flaring out very slighty at one end. The other end of the object appears to have been broken off. The obverse is decorated in relief with a symmetrical design positioned in the centre of the object. The relief design is in the form of a triangle which divides into two sub-circular loops at its tip. The loops become graudally narrower as they curve round to meet the triangle. Inside each loop is a central circle, in relief. Two circular bosses are positioned on the rectangular body, one each beside both of the longer sides of the triangle, ro…

The brooch is circular in plan, a small portion of the edge is missing. The upper surface is flat, and appears to be undecorated. The reverse has two small lugs at one edge with iron corrsion surrounding them. This suggest that either the axis bar or pin was made of iron. On the opposite edge is another lug which is abraded and was probably the catchplate. The upper surface has patches of a mid green patina.
