An incomplete Late Iron Age to early Roman Nauheim derivative brooch dating to the 1st century AD. The one-piece copper-alloy brooch has a sub-rectangular bow which tapers at each end. The bow is decorated with a series of punch marks in two lines close to the edges. The integral wire which formed the spring extends from the tapered edge and is now opened out and slightly flattened. The wire is coiled and then forms the pin, which is bent. The catchplate is formed from the end of the tapered point at the foot and becomes wider and is twisted to secure the pin.
