Large hinged brooch. Tubular wings with axis bar and part of cast bronze pin present. The circular in section bow is plain except for median rib which extends halfway. Characteristic semi-circular mouldings to either side of the head. Remnant of catchplate, foot missing.

A cast copper alloy Polden Hill brooch dating to the Roman period, c. AD75-175. The wings are semi-cylindrical and terminate with a break. The axis bar, spring and pin are all missing. The bowhead is hump-like in profile and is decorated with two vertical ridges running parallel with each other, which terminate opposite the start of the catchplate, creating a rectangular pannel. A cast copper alloy possible Polden Hill brooch dating to the Roman period. The object is incomplete with the rounded head, and incomplete wings and bow remaining. The head is D-shaped in cross-section and is corroded. The wings project from either side of the head and are D-shaped in cross-section with a moulded decorative ridge where they join the head. 5mm of the bow is present, which terminates with an ancient break which is rounded.
