This is a nice example of a Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 3. flat wing ends type, middle Severn Valley)t Midlands). The large wings are hollow at the rear with the remains of the spring cord, still in position. The ends of the wings are pierced for a transverse spring axis bar, now missing. The wings are decorated at each end with an indented zigzag within moulded transverse lines. An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester Derivative, Polden Hill brooch (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends), of Roman date (80-120 AD). The wings are semi-cylindrical with near complete perforated wing / end caps. The axis bar, spring and pin are lost; the spring would have attached by an external loop which is attached to a rearward facing hook located at the centre of the wings on the upper edge. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Polden Hill type and of mid-2nd-mid-3rd century AD date The brooch is near-complete, missing the spring, foot and catch-plate, with a surviving length of 44.5mm and a weight of 12.4g. The spring mechanism was secured within a Polden Hill type arrangement and the chord was secured with a claw at the rear of the head. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Alcester/Almgren 101 type of 1st or 2nd century AD date. The brooch is fragmentary, represented by the head only (with a surviving length of 22.3mm, a surviving depth of 12.8mm and a weight of 4.7g). The brooch is fragmentary, missing the leg and spring (with a surviving length of 23.2mm, a surviving depth of 6.6mm and a weight of 4.0g). A probable brooch of lightweight copper sheet decorated with the stamped impression of the obverse of a coin of the Roman Emperor Postumus (AD260-268) with a radiate bust facing right and the legend IMP C POSTUMUS PF AUG. On the back is the reverse image and two studs for a pin fixing, the pin itself is missing.

The reported object is an annular brooch. The silver frame is of circular cross-section, and slightly distorted. One face is decorated with four groups of diagonally-set incised lines inlaid; the other face has transverse lines around 50% of the frame, and pairs of parallel lines set herringbone pattern fashion for the other half. Small silver annular brooch. The silver frame is of quatrilobe form, with rounded mouldings in the angles between the lobes. The external frame width is 19.2mm; frame height 19.3mm; frame thickness 3mm. The pin is plain, with an off-centre suggestion of a division at junction of head and shaft. The front of the pin has slight bevelling; the back is flat. The head is simply wrapped around a cast restriction in the hoop. Overall pin length 21.1mm. The object has not undergone any cleaning or conservation
